Embassy House Expands to Pelarbacken – A New Sustainable Coworking Space in the Heart of Södermalm

Embassy House Medborgarplatsen is located inside Pelarbacken

Embassy House, one of Sweden’s leading coworking brands, is expanding its footprint in Stockholm with a new flexible coworking space at Pelarbacken, opening January 1, 2024. Located at Östgötagatan 12, just steps from Medborgarplatsen, the new space will offer over 200 workstations designed to foster innovation, creativity, and community.

A Growing Coworking Community in Stockholm and Malmö

With existing coworking spaces in Östermalm, Södermalm, and Malmö, Embassy House brings together more than 100 companies — from AI startups and fintech innovators to creative studios and gaming entrepreneurs. The new Embassy House Pelarbacken will further strengthen this network, offering startups and growing teams a place to connect, collaborate, and thrive in a full-service coworking environment.

When we were looking for a long-term home around Medborgarplatsen, Pelarbacken and AMF Fastigheter were able to deliver the best solution,” says Anders Nilsson, founder of Embassy House. “Being able to stay close to our members while moving into new, sustainable, and inspiring premises made the decision an easy one.

Designed for Sustainability and Innovation

Sustainability is at the core of Embassy House’s philosophy. The new Pelarbacken coworking space has been designed with a focus on recycling and climate-conscious construction. Every glass panel, door, and piece of office furniture will be reused, and wooden joists and panels will replace metal to reduce the carbon footprint.

In collaboration with AMF Fastigheter, Embassy House has also conducted a climate impact assessment to evaluate how design and material choices affect the project’s overall environmental impact — ensuring every step aligns with sustainable development goals.

By making climate calculations, we make visible how different choices along the way affect the project’s total climate footprint. Together with Embassy House, we can make informed and sustainable decisions,” says Johan Lindskog, Project Development Manager at AMF Fastigheter.

A New Chapter for Coworking in Södermalm

The launch of Embassy House Pelarbacken marks an exciting step in the brand’s mission to make coworking in Stockholm more accessible, flexible, and community-driven. Members will enjoy modern facilities, affordable workspaces, and a collaborative environment that supports both startups and established businesses.

Embassy House continues to shape the future of coworking in Sweden, providing spaces where innovation meets sustainability — and where ambitious ideas grow into thriving businesses.

Embassy House Pelarbacken opens January 1, 2024 at Östgötagatan 12, Stockholm.
